• Incredible performance on Guy Beart's "Bienvenue†show, Ce Soir • Includes the ORTF broadcast • Hand numbered flip back sleeve • 2pp full colour insert • Informative liner notes • Archival imagery Soft Machine, Ce Soir On Danse, August 25th 1968 Gone were the days of gigs at the UFO, with Hydrogen Jukebox and The 8 Hour Psycho-Chromatic Fantasy, Soft Machine were unknowingly bound for a bigger bounty. From September to December 1967, the Softs journeyed between Holland, Belgium, France and London with TV crews in France taking full advantage of these bizarre troubadours of the latest in British progressive sound. Their appearance in Paris in October 1967 for Guy Beart's "Bienvenue†TV show, showcased a handful of selections that would go towards the Record Plant sessions for their debut LP in April 1968. These embryonic versions highlight that most early incarnation of the band when Ratledge, Ayers and Wyatt were still a fresh concept and finding their way without Daevid Allen at only a little over a year in existence. London Calling proudly presents a jewel in the crown of Soft Machine’s ever expanding recorded legacy. Originally broadcast on August 25, 1968, ten months after it was performed, this performance highlights those early manoeuvres that would shape not only the Canterbury scene, but the entire progressive collage and its numerous hybrid manifestations. Professionally remastered original ORTF broadcast with background liners and timeline photos. Side One
