Nick Flessa The Politics of Personal Destruction
Pressed against the thorny entrenched mythology of Americana, The Politics of Personal Destruction splits the seams of the trappings of capitalism to reflect on ways in which superficiality takes precedence over dignity in the current zeitgeist. Songs are inner monologues of different characters navigating how to exist: within the gauze of surveillance culture, between social expectations, romantic relationships, deceptive digital environments, and 'smoggy mountains in the silver palace'. Musically, this takes form as a collection of cinematic, narrative, poetic country songs with an eclectic style and an experimental bent. This is Nick Flessa's second solo LP, featuring contributions from Austin Leonard Jones, Caity Shaffer (Olden Yolk), Sam and Nick Wilkerson (ex-White Reaper) and more. For fans of Smog, Silver Jews, Leonard Cohen.
