Morbid Jester - Until The Battle Is Won Even in 1994, good and exciting traditional metal albums were being recorded while „out there“ grunge and crossover were raging. Morbid Jester from Herborn started in 1988 under the name MILZBRAND (German for anthrax) and initially played punk. But the love for heavy metal prevailed among the members, so that in 1992 they recorded their first demo as MORBID JESTER, which sold more than 400 copies regionally. The press also reacted enthusiastically, so the next step was to record their first album: „Until The Battle Is Won“. This gem of German metal art was released on CD in 1994 and was produced by S.L. Coe at Dust Studios. S.L. Coe might be known to die-hard metal fans as the singer of SCANNER and on the second LP of ANGEL DUST. Around 2000 copies of the self-production (!) were sold, including many copies in Greece and Japan. Performances with e.g. SAXON were only a logical consequence. In this bad decade for classic heavy metal from doom to thrash, MORBID JESTER continued to persevere and followed up with another self-production before the line-up changed. Nevertheless, the group is still active (current album „Something Wicked“ released in 2016). On „Until The Battle Is Won“, MORBID JESTER combine elements of German metal with a US metal precision, resulting in a particularly unique sound mixture. The transparent yet powerful production emphasises the great quality of the songs. The respectful remastering for this re-release brings all the benefits up a notch. With the original CD on its way to becoming an expensive rarity, this new version comes just in time
