Mekong Delta Visions Fugitives
Mekong Delta - "Visions Fugitives" - for the first time on LP (original was CD only) - the sixth album by the progmetal band from Germany - the B-side contains the marvel "Suite For Group And Orchestra" - with singer Doug Lee (Siren) - mastered for vinyl by Vadim Kulin (ZYX Studio) - limited edition Mekong Delta were the first German prog thrash band, still one year before Sieges Even released their debut. With "Mekong Delta", 1988, they didn't make it easy for the unsophisticated metal fans, unless you were familiar with the complex material of Rush or early Yes and Genesis, belonged to the few insiders who knew "Energetic Disassembly" (1985) by Watchtower, or were sonicated by an older brother with King Crimson or sophisticated classical music. The sophomore album "The Music Of Eric Zann" was more recognized by fans as ingenious and high class due to a more differentiated sound. The mysterious Mekong Delta (the line-up remained hidden at first) made a name for themselves as one of the most innovative German metal bands, which still reverberates today. This was also shown by the current album "Tales Of A Future Past" (2020), which was celebrated for good reasons. For the fourth album Doug Lee joined the band, who had previously been (and today is again) the singer of the US group Siren, who had released their second LP "Financial Suicide" on Aaarrg Records. And their label boss Ralph Hubert is not only the bassist and classical guitarist of Mekong Delta, but also the driving force behind the band. Together with drummer Peter Haas (Krokus, Buddy Lackey, Calhoun Conquer) and guitarist Uwe Baltrusch they reached a new high and delivered one of their most ambitious works in 1994: Visions Fugitives. Already before, Mekong Delta celebrated classical pieces in musical metal garb, but on Visions Fugitives they thrill their listeners with an own composition called "Suite For Group And Orchestra", which now fills one LP side. The other four songs reflect the band in their usual style. In 1994 the then label Bullet Proof (Intercord) did not make a record, because the CD had already won the battle. Due to the current demand this masterpiece is now released on LP for the first time!
