LAIBACH - Spectre (Limited Editon Clear Vinyl) Laibach’s 2014 album Spectre returns on limited edition clear vinyl, available once more on Mute after years out of print. A record that unfolds like a political manifesto in poetic form, Spectre is one of Laibach’s most direct and outspoken works. Long known for ambiguity and provocation, the group sharpened their message for this record, confronting global politics head-on while continuing to blur the line between critique and complicity. Opening with the popular Laibach track ‘The Whistleblowers’ – a rousing, whistle-led showcase of their “militant & symphonic” sound – the album sets its tone early: bold, anthemic and disarmingly immediate. There’s a sense of exhaustion and repetition in Spectre that feels prescient now, reflecting a world in which political cycles, outrage and ideology seem to loop endlessly, often without resolution.
