Helado Negro’s forthcoming EP ‘The Last Sound on Earth’ is a collection of songs inspired by a morbid curiosity of what the last sound one would hear before dying. With ever-growing anxiety with the state of current affairs, songs on this EP contain profound despair, anguish, and sadness for the world around us. In previous projects, Lange found positivity through music and dance, “I've found a way of moving my body on stage that gives me a direct, freeing feeling with the music.” these days, “The doom is real, and the gloom is unfortunate; I'm not sure how to make this any lighter.”

Opening track “More” embodies such overwhelming feelings of being inundated with more of everything. Lange also critiques those in power with “Sender Receiver” and “Protector”, where technical terminology is often rooted in violence and governmental institutions and the concentration of power amongst an elite few is an inherently broken system respectively. Amidst this doom, glimmers of hope peek through. The last two tracks “Zenith” and “Don’t Give Up Now” encourage the act of enduring from which change can happen internally and externally.
