Pianist and composer Edgar Knecht is a distinctive voice in the fusion of jazz, European tradition, and world music. For two decades, he has been reclaiming folk songs from the dust of history, reshaping them in a uniquely personal way. With Colours Of Europe, the "Old German Songbook" consistently evolves into the "Great European Songbook."

Musical Highlights: "Beautiful Countries" offers a rhythmically sharpened take on "Kein schöner Land." "Ballade Imaginaire" brings French folklore into the jazz present, while Italy's energy drives the tarantella-based "Tarantola." In "Arturiana," a dialogue with flamenco guitarist Pau Figueres, the sound expands into progressive rock. A technical standout is Knecht's patented "Pizzicato Pedal"--a mechatronic modulator that dampens the piano strings to create unique, harp-like sonic possibilities.
Colours Of Europe features a new trio line-up: alongside drummer Tobias Schulte, bassist Till Spohr completes the group. They are joined by renowned guests including Luciano Biondini (accordion), Frederik Köster (trumpet), Christoph Pepe Auer (bass clarinet), and Pau Figueres (guitar).
