Three years after their acclaimed album 'Mass Hysteria' Doris Brendel and Lee Dunham release their 5th joint album venture 'PIGS MIGHT FLY. The daughter of famed classical pianist Alfred Brendel, Doris' distinctive vocals were the driving force behind 1990s alt-rockers The Violet Hour, who were signed to Sony when they released their now revered, classic album 'The Fire Sermon' in 1991. Having become a firm fixture in the Rock and Prog scene, Brendel fans know to expect the unexpected and she is typically hard to pigeon-hole. 'Pigs Might Fly' is once again a tapestry of pop, rock, prog and acoustic and World styles and features Brendel's signature Irish whistle. There's plenty of hard-hitting rock on this album but each track is a masterclass of songwriting. The album features Sam White on drums, Jacob Stoney on keyboards and Ewan McIntosh on bass, who have featured as the Doris Brendel band on several tours. Dunham (ex-Primary Slave) decided to mix the album himself after extensive studio investment, but John Mitchell (Lonely Robot, It Bites) did the mastering once again. Brendel has worked with some notable people over the years, including Alvin Lee, Gary Moore, Sam Brown, Joe Brown, Herbie Flowers, and has toured with Marillion as well as Nils Lofgren, John Farnham and Steve Marriott. Over the last few years, she has toured extensively with Wishbone Ash and Fish, also singing backing vocals for Fish and his new album 'Weltschmerz' released on 2020. Doris Brendel is one of the most accomplished and exciting live singers on the scene. Apart from first-class musicianship, expect outlandish steam-punk costumes and even laser gloves. The band is playing at a few festivals this year and is hoping to resume touring with Fish in Autumn 2024. This album is available on CD, Vinyl and download. Features stunning artwork, with the cover designed by Doris Brendel herself and artist Ian Foxon.
