Dimorphodons, aka producer, multi-instrumentalist and obsessive record nerd Will Twynham presents his long-gestated debut album Waui.
From the stoner bombast of ‘Land Over Sea’ to the filmic baroque sweeps of Gondwanaland, Waui represents a body of work that was not easy to assemble, finish, or even start. An ambitious romp through a music lover’s mind, the recording process took in stints in Glastonbury and LA, a harpsichord driven in the back of a van to a vacant chapel, four drummers, a co-producer, countless mis-starts, experiments and “Eureka!” moments that have crystalised into a work of striking originality.
‘Waui is all that’s good about psychedelia put into a cannon and fired point blank into your ears. It sounds like nothing else ever made, in the best possible way. Face-melting future psych genius.’ ★★★★★ (5 STARS) SHINDIG!
‘Waui is a small triumph of psych auteurdom . . . Everything comes refracted through meticulously fractious treatments aligning Twynham as fellow traveller to Kevin Shields and peak Jason Pierce.’ ★★★★ (4 STARS) John Mulvey (Editor), MOJO
‘Dimorphodons may be the work of a solo artist, but it sounds like the work of a bevy of intense musicians all dressed in lavish gowns attempting to open a door to another world.’ – CMU Daily
