Not only the NWOBHM or the US metal have spawned genuine and wallet-nibbling rarities, but also German acts that tried their luck in the first half of the eighties not by means of demo cassette(s), but with a self-produced record. The EP of DEATH WARRANT, which is gladly titled "Ecstasy", is one of the rarest and most exciting rarities that German heavy metal has produced. The core of the band from Baden-Württemberg was formed already in the seventies and after some line-up changes they finally called themselves Death Warrant. The first demo recordings were made in 1980/1981 and could be saved and reworked for these re-releases. The proof that Death Warrant was one of the very early bands in German Metal is irrefutable. The landlord of the local pub then financed the highly motivated band the vinyl EP, famous in collector circles, which was recorded in the studio of Antoni Records. The logo of this company can also be seen on the record, but it is still a self-pressing. Four songs were recorded (still 1984), which capture the zeitgeist of the early years of German Metal. That the musicians already had experience can be heard in the tracks, because despite the rough shell it is not "rumble". Unfortunately, some members did not want to take the next step and the band broke up. An unplayed EP was overdubbed and cleaned by Patrick Engel, then the material, including the early demo recordings, was restored and remastered by Neudi. The booklet or LP inlay contains an extensive interview with singer Wolfgang Marquart, who is now a piano teacher. With this re-release, this piece of German metal history can now also wander into the living rooms at home without a small loan.
