Cannock Waiting For The Night
CANNOCK's "Waiting For The Night" can safely be classed among the forgotten gems of German rock music. This assessment has also been echoed on the Internet in recent years, particularly when it comes to the late phase of krautrock. But Raphaela Ciblis' singular vocals also have a unique characteristic. The Stuttgart band first appeared in 1974 with a single that is now a sought-after collector's item. In 1976, they secured a place on the "Rock Offers" compilation and impressed the audience with their spherical prog rock. In 1980, they signed a recording contract with the new PEAK label, which today offers a whole series of exciting releases. "Waiting For The Night" was produced by Peter Garattoni, Eulenspygel's drummer, who sadly passed away last year. The LP was mixed by Achim Bosch (Sinner, Octopuss) and distributed at the time by Rockport Records. The second album "Frohe Botschaft" (1982) was more in keeping with the spirit of the times. The CD version of the Golden Core/ZYX reissue is likely to include all tracks from this disc as a bonus.
