It‘s all worthless! ...or is it!? This is exactly the question the Berlin singer and songwriter ALEX MORGEN asked himself in spring 2020 when he released his debut album „Vom Siegen & Scheitern“ shortly before the start of the Corona Pandemic. At the time, the Schallmagazin wrote that MORGEN‘s „rough, scratchy voice combined with the pure guitar playing would convey exactly the emotions that are often neglected in smooth-ironed studio productions“ and therefore called his album „Lebendige Musik“. Exactly this authenticity and this character were always very important to the singer and songwriter in his songs. The question of whether it is still worth recording an entire album in these fast-moving times, in which it is all about which playlists you end up in as an artist, never arose for the Berliner. For him, the true class of an artist is reflected in the quality of his albums and only secondarily in the individual songs. So during the first lockdown, MORGEN locked himself back in his home studio and wrote new songs. Together with producer Christian Kreutzer, the last two recorded 13 songs over the next two years. Different genres were incorporated stylistically, but oriented towards the sound of the 80s. Somewhere between Bruce Springsteen, Herbert Grönemeyer and Eddie Money, garnished with a modern note à la „the Weeknd“, the album‘s own character „Everyone plays the role of their life“ finally followed.
