Flock of Dimes The Life You Save
- Sub Pop
- Alternative, Alternative rock, Electronic, Indie, Indie pop, Rock
The Life You Save is the third album by Flock of Dimes, the solo project of multi-instrumentalist and producer Jenn Wasner.Across the last few decades - whether it be as Flock of Dimes, as half of beloved duo Wye Oak, or via one of her many collaborations with Bon Iver, Sylvan Esso, and a sprawling list of other musical juggernauts - Jenn Wasner's extensive catalog displays her gift for balancing authenticity and directness with an unmistakable left-of-center sensibility. Her songwriting has always found her as a keen-eyed observer, a deeply empathetic and thoughtful storyteller with a skill for probing memory, heartbreak, and unhealed trauma, a shroud of syncopation or off-kilter guitar taking a song somewhere quietly prodigious. Her last solo album, the critically-lauded Head of Roses, took on heartbreak from a dualistic perspective, following a winding thread of intuition into the unknown and into healing. Her new album, The Life You Save, takes that a step further; put simply, it's the most honest, intimate and personally revealing record of Wasner's career. As heart-wrenching as they are hopeful, it's twelve tracks delve the depths of addiction and codependency, inherited and experienced trauma, and the process of finding peace in the face of others' suffering. The Life You Save is resonant, unflinchingly exposed - like a missive from the eye of a storm. But while it somehow manages to feel both viscerally raw and vulnerable, above it floats a sense of quiet peace, a sheen of hindsight, or perhaps of acceptance. It is the story of how it feels to be trapped between two worlds-the one you came from, and the one you've escaped to; about the belief that somehow, you can take the ones you love with you to this place; about the grief of realizing that the only person you can save is yourself. The Life You Save was produced by Jenn Wasner and recorded at Betty's in Chapel Hill, NC, and Montrose Recording in Los Angeles, CA, with additional production from Nick Sanborn. The album was engineered by Adrian Olsen & Alli Rogers, mixed by Adrian Olsen, and mastered by Huntley Miller.

Jay Som Belong
- Polyvinyl Records
- Alternative, Rock
Jay Som is your favorite band's favorite band - or songwriter, producer, engineer, multi-instrumentalist... The list goes on and on when referring to Jay Som's mastermind Melina Duterte. After breaking into the spotlight with the critically acclaimed Everybody Works (2017) and it's follow-up, Anak Ko (2019), Duterte became one of the most in-demand musicians in the industry - whether it's collaborating with artists such as Troye Sivan, recording original tracks for films like A24's I Saw The TV Glow, or working on grammy-award-winning albums like boygenius' the record, as well as performing in the boygenius touring band with shows across the globe + a performance on SNL. Duterte has been a part of some of the biggest indie albums of the decade, you just might not have noticed. That's all about to change however, with the release of the brilliant new Jay Som album, Belong. The album is undeniably Duterte's best work yet and features 11 tracks that showcase her ever-expansive musicianship and wide-ranging influences. Recorded at Headroom Studios in Philadelphia and mixed by Duterte and Kyle Pulley (Dr. Dog, Alex G), Belong is chock-full of everything you'd expect from such an influential and pioneering fixture in music. Tracks like "Float" (featuring Jimmy Eat World's Jim Adkins) showcase Duterte's knack for melody while other standouts like "Past Lives" (featuring Paramore's Hayley Williams) tastefully build towards an anthemic resolve, with both Duterte and Williams' interchanging vocals on full display. Belong is a turning point for Jay Som - a career-defining statement that finds Duterte rightfully stepping into the spotlight.

Jerskin Fendrix Once Upon A Time. . . In Shropshire
- Untitled (Recs)
- Alternative, Alternative pop, Pop
London-based artist & composer Jerskin Fendrix has announced Once Upon A Time. . . In Shropshire, his highly anticipated sophomore album, due out October 10th via untitled (recs). It follows his critically acclaimed debut album Winterreise – Loud & Quiet’s 2020 Album of The Year, as well as his Ivor Novello-winning, Oscar & Golden Globe nominated soundtrack to Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things (2023). In-between time spent nurturing his burgeoning career as a composer, Jerskin began work on OUATIS. The record threads together memories of a vibrant, rural childhood, attempting to capture a time and place that’s been altered by the ebb of time and the failings of memory. “It's not a sad thing - maybe a bit nostalgic. It’s trying to capture that feeling and how important that was to me and my friends and my family - and then how, bit by bit, it gets cracked and corrupted” he says. Raised in the rural county of Shropshire, England, where he learnt violin and piano, Jerskin moved to London and spent 2 years nurturing a visceral live personality at the iconic Brixton Windmill, playing alongside Black Midi and Black Country, New Road. He released his debut-album Winterreise in 2020 which was described as an “unhinged collection of pop songs”, and named by Loud & Quiet Magazine as their Album of the Year. In 2023, he scored the motion picture Poor Things directed by Yorgos Lanthimos. It is the first time the director of The Favourite and The Lobster has worked with an original composer. The score was critically acclaimed and received a range of “Best Original Score” nominations from the Oscars, BAFTAs, Golden Globes, as well as an Ivor Novello Award. The pair collaborated again on the feature film Kinds of Kindness (2024) and on forthcoming film Bugonia (2025).

- Rock, Alternative
Brand new album from global superstar duo LANY, 10 new tracks and follow-up to their latest release A Beautiful Blur in 2023. Maroon Color 1LP Vinyl with printed inner sleeve and 12x24 poster. LANY have quietly cracked the mainstream on their own terms as one of the most ubiquitous, unpredictable, and undeniable alternative rock bands of this era. Tallying billions of streams, selling out legendary arenas, and earning widespread critical acclaim, the platinum-certified Los Angeles group consistently deliver rafter-reaching anthems anchored by airtight songcraft and the outsized personality of enigmatic frontman and songwriter Paul Jason Klein. LANY will be releasing their brand new album "Soft" in October 2025. Thematically and visually "Soft" exists in tension - an intentional contrast of the hard and soft. Tangible, literal, physical hardness juxtaposed with metaphorical, relational (and, at times too, physical) softness. Sonically, the album explores these same tensions - much of the softness and vulnerability of lyric that has defined LANY's acclaimed career, now with a harder, braver edge to the production.

The Antlers Blight

This is their first new studio album in over four years, released on CD, limited edition clear pink vinyl Blight asks many questions without offering easy answers. Over the course of nine new songs, The Antlers' founder and primary songwriter Silberman reckons with our passively destructive tendencies - absent-minded pollution, unwitting wastefulness, and the inadvertent devastation of the natural world. But despite it's heavy themes, Blight is far from a punishing listen. With it's adventurous arrangements and persistent momentum, it plays more like an iridescent odyssey. The Antlers have kept busy over the last few years, touring with Okkervil River across US, UK & EU. They also released a collaborative live album in June of this year, and will carry out their own headline tour in support of Blight in 2026.

The Besnard Lakes The Besnard Lakes Are The Ghost Nation
- Full Time Hobby
- Alternative, Alternative rock,Indie rock, Post rock, Psychedelic
The Besnard Lakes return with their melodic yet mountainous sound world On their new album The Besnard Lakes are the Ghost Nation, Montreal's The Besnard Lakes return with their same melodic yet mountainous sound world; the keening, lilting vocals of Jace Lasek and Olga Goreas foregrounded, but this time around, there is a lightness and optimism at play. Perhaps a somewhat disingenuous sense of hope, in a world where it is currently often in short supply. "I feel like it's a very formidable title, symbolic of the times," says Jace. "It's talking about the death of nations, the threat of Canada being the 51st state. There is the desire to be left alone, to let community be community, all of those things that feel like they might be under siege; that's what the ghost nation is." Lyrically, it considers the history of human progress: "It's always been something in my mind; are we evolving, or are we devolving as a society? As much as we move forward, have we forgotten the things that are important because we've moved forward so fast?". Although there is a sense and acknowledgement of the wider world, the band do not look at it as a 'political' album: "We definitely try to keep our politics out of our music, and although this is probably slightly more present, it's still obscure in that we try to keep our lyrics fairly ambiguous". A good example of this is the dazed, soothing 'Chemin de la Baie'. Underpinned by a wonky arpeggio, the surging chorus is perhaps the most 'pop' they have ever been, again channeling that inbuilt confidence, imploring us to "Hold those thoughts and run away". In a crowded leaderboard of their own making, The Besnard Lakes are the Ghost Nation might just be their best album yet; a strive for hope when it is needed most.
